Blizzard Sources
Blizzard have posted a teaser video of Ulduar, the new raid dungeon that's coming in the next patch. I watched it today, and had to stop and boggle a bit at times, because so many of the visuals are familiar. Some of them are direct from various mythologies, others from science fiction shows, and one is very reminiscent of an Irish artist. See below...
This image above might be directly from the 80s cartoon Ulysses 31.
This one is straight from Norse mythology - although, given some of the 'disguised' names of characters in Wrath of the Lich King, like 'Loken', and some they haven't even bothered to disguise, like 'Freya', that's no news.
Note the rather nice Art Deco panels behind this fine example of... insecthood?
This is from Stargate, I'm pretty sure. It's even more clear when you see that big circular item rotate.
And here, that central face is distinctively Mayan. And do those stained glass windows look familiar?
Why, yes they do. I'd almost think they'd seen art by Jim Fitzpatrick!
