Doctor Who Season 6
The first rumours are starting to circulate about Series 6 of the new Doctor Who. We know a few things in advance. Possible spoilers follow...
First and foremost, there's a new guy at the helm, a new doctor, and presumably a new companion, as all indications are that the Doctor is on his own through the specials that comprise Season 5 - assuming we can call that a season. Maybe what I'm calling Series 6 is Series 5. Anyway...
Stephen Moffat takes over from Russell T. Davies, and not a moment too soon, in my mind. Moffat's previous episodes have all been good, and some of them have been really great.
As to the new Doctor, well, the Christmas Special is titled, "The Next Doctor", and it will air on BBC One on Christmas Day at 6pm. Speculations on the actor include Patterson Joseph, Robert Carlyle, David Morrisey (who appears in the Christmas Special as a Time Lord with a Tardis who calls himself The Doctor), Rhys Ifans and Anthony Head. Anthony Head having already appeared as a villain would make it difficult, from my point of view. Personally, I'd love to know how Moffat can square away River Song recognising the Doctor from further on in his own timeline, if there's going to be a new regeneration this soon. Although it's rumoured he did let slip at Comic Con 2008 that she knows of other incarnations as well... Anyway, my guess is that it's anyone except Head or Morrisey.
For new companions, the field is wide open, and I don't think there's much point in speculating. I'd like to see someone from a different time period, but I'm not picky on the who or when. If it's going to be River Song, that would make sense, and would be fine for me.
