Doctor Who: Evolution of the Daleks Preview
Episode Five of Series Three is titled "Evolution of the Daleks", and it shows this coming Saturday evening. This post rounds up rumours and speculation, and contains spoilers.
Well, we know that Dalek Sec is now a dalek-human hybrid. Something is going to use the power from the mast on the Empire State Building. There's an army of homeless folk in Central Park. The pig-slaves are all over the place. That's what we know.
Rumour has it that the Doctor joins an "unholy alliance". Being as there's only the Daleks to ally with, my guess is that Sec and the other three "pure" Daleks will split, opposing each other. The Doctor will help one side or other - but which? Thus far, Daleks taking on human characteristics also take on emotions, so he might be more likely to side with Sec against the others. Or he might opt to side with the other, less effective Daleks against Sec, to get rid of the new threat.
We've also got to wonder about Mr. Diagoras, the human Sec consumed. Diagoras the Atheist of Melos was a ancient Greek poet in the 5th century BC, according to Wikipedia. I suspect the reference is not accidental.
Will any Daleks survive? I'm tired of them by now, but they're so much a part of the series that I can't see them really being killed off entirely.

Surely it doesn't matter if the Daleks survive or not? as they too can time travel? isn't possible that the Doctor could meet them again in the "past?" Also, again not too sure of the Time frame here I'm sure that the Daleks have visited 1930's New York in "The Chase". Could this be a reference to that story or am I just reading too much into it?
Posted by: peetaypan at April 26, 2007 1:48 PMIt is in fact a small refrence to the story because when the Doctor uttered ".....Skaro" he didn't sound surprised as he knew he had fought the Daleks here before.

The Doctor and Dalek Sec do eventually join forces as Sec has lost his Dalek purity and has embraced human emotions. The other members of the Cult of Skaro turn against him because they find out that Sec is un-pure.
