The Pig Slates Turbine
There's a great article by the Pig on WanderingGoblin.com about Turbine. His rather surprising calculation is that, despite being constantly labelled as a "major player in the MMO marketplace", they're no such thing, and that in fact, they currently hold less than 1% of the market. They were early, and have some high-profile games, but those games don't have the numbers of players to support a position as a major MMO company. Unfortunately, they're the people in control of LOTRO, and the Pig concludes that if they don't pull up in several areas - most notably customer service and PR - the Lord of the Rings game is going to fade from sight.
