Buffy Episodes Drew From Classic Who?
I love tracing the heritage of ideas and motifs through popular culture. Being as I grew up mostly without a television, I'm less de-sensitised than most of my friends, and less familiar with what's ordinary and otherwise. Because of that interest, I'm always pleased when I find out about new parallels, such as a likeness between two episodes of Buffy and two of early 70s Doctor Who, as pointed out by Livejournaller londonkds. There's even a bit of detective work in the comments, as people try to work out where Joss Whedon was when those shows were broadcast, and if he might have seen them. The conclusion seems to be that since a Californian station broadcast many episodes of Doctor Who in the 80s, it's pretty likely he encountered it.
