RPGs
Role-playing games, or RPGs, are much like theatre. Players take on the roles of different characters, and set out to achieve different missions with their teams. There are rules and guidelines to follow, as there are responsibilities for each player. RPGs are thrilling, escapism at its best. You discover fantasy worlds, challenge yourself and interact with players of many different backgrounds.
There are RPGs for all kinds of players! You are bound to find one you enjoy, whether you are a PartyPoker or chess fan. Some demand strategy and stealth, while others are comedic and energetic. Depending on the game, your character may have specials powers ranging from flight to kung fu. According on the Game Master and your fellow players, each session will vary. You can never get bored playing RPGs!
There are games for all ages. Goblins, castles, trading card or war games-- there are dozens of themes to choose from. Players become storytellers, creating their own realities as the game plays out. You can choose form tabletop or 'pen & paper' RPGS, where all the players are present, or electronic formats like computer or video game RPGs. Live action role-playing games (LARPs) can be much like an improvisational theatre group, and some can take days!
The only limit to RPGs is your own imagination. You can experience so many different universes and situations, with an eclectic group of players. You can really learn things from each RPG experience-- it is definitely worth trying, if you haven't yet! Do a little research, choose one that grabs your interest and go for it! You'll have a blast! Select a variety of RPGs, to see which style you are best suited to. Once you get the hang of it, you'll want to play every week!
