Tools of The Future

I realised today that I'm working in the future when I'm working on Starbound. Not so much in the subject matter - because at my current stage of research I'm looking into the past as much as the future - but in the tools I'm using. The main trigger for this realisation is that you can plonk me down in front of any computer in the world, and as long as I have a relatively decent net connection, I can pick up my work and my research pretty much seamlessly.

I still favour old-fashioned pencil and paper for taking down notes, mainly because it forces me to refine my ideas at least once as I transcribe them. But after that, I'm using Writeboard, Backpackit, Google, Wikipedia, my various blogs, occasional text messages, and gmail. All online, all accessible from anywhere, and all almost inconceivable ten years ago.
